Notes
HMS Pinafore opened on May 25, 1878 at the Opera Comique. Bootleg versions of the show quickly made their way to America. At one point, in New York, the piece was playing in eight theatres within five blocks of each other. These pirated versions took many forms, including burlesque versions, all-Catholic versions, performances on boats and production starring a cast of children.
HMS Pinafore takes place fully on the ship, the HMS Pinafore. The original Pinafore, that the name of the show was based on, was a large ship colored in bright orange and black. To save your eyes and ours, we have gone with a much cooler palette for the set.
Thanks again and we hope you enjoy the show!
